Teaching Areas

  • Advanced Semiconductor Devices
  • High-Efficiency Silicon Solar Cells
  • Applied Photovoltaics
  • Introduction to Electronic Devices
  • Chemical Processes for Renewable Energy Systems
  • Biomass

Present Research Interests

  • Semiconductor device physics.
  • Fabrication, characterisation and numerical modelling of crystalline silicon solar cells.
  • Development of low-cost solar cells based on polycrystalline silicon films on glass using low-temperature approaches. The Si films are made by vacuum deposition processes such as PVD, PECVD, MBE, IAD, and hot-wire CVD.
  • Light trapping in polycrystalline silicon thin-film solar cells on glass.
  • Surface passivation of thin-film Si solar cells made on foreign substrates.
  • 1D, 2D and 3D numerical modelling of poly-crystalline Si thin-film solar cells.
  • Development of characterisation methods and processing equipment for the PV community.
